Cruise Essentials to Make Your Life Easier
Many experienced cruisers have a list of their cruise essentials, but what cruise essentials will make your life that much easier to have with you on your cruise? Or what is actually “essential” to bring with you on your vacation? Keep reading and you will see our top 15 cruise essentials that we bring with us on every cruise we take.
If you are reading this because you are going on your very first cruise, Yay! How exciting for you! Hopefully, you will love it and this post will help you. I also wrote a post on tips for a first-time cruiser, you can find it here.

Top 15 Cruise Essentials
#1 Sea bands

Sea Bands are wristbands that have small plastic studs that are used for acupuncture to help alleviate nausea from motion sickness. (They remind me of those 80’s workout bands.) They are an easy Non-Drug way to help relieve nausea you might be experiencing.
Sea Bands are something that are nice to have in case you need them. My husband and I have never needed to use them before, but they are nice to have for those just-in-case moments. I always keep our Sea Bands in our travel toiletries bag just for peace of mind. While we have never had to use them ourselves they still made the top of our cruise essentials. You never know when you might come into some rocky water.
#2 Beach Bag

If you are going somewhere tropical a beach bag is a definite cruise essential. You need somewhere to store all your beach stuff.
This particular bag I believe is the perfect cruise vacation beach bag. Not only is it cute but it also very easily folds up and fits in your suitcase with ease.
When choosing what to bring on your cruise you need to think about how you will be able to bring it on the ship and this beach bag fits the bill perfectly because it can just go in your suitcase and you do not have to worry about carrying it onto the ship yourself.
#3 Lanyard

When on the cruise ship your Sea Pass (room key) is Everything! Not only will it let you in your room, but is also how you get on and off the ship, and how you pay for everything. Whether you have a drink package or not you need to give your Sea Pass to order a drink.
This is where a lanyard comes in handy and made it on our cruise essentials list. Since you will need it so often we love to wear it with a lanyard around our necks that way we always have with it us.
Having your Sea Pass in the lanyard also helps us keep better track of it, since in the lanyard it much bigger item to lose.
#4 Cruise Luggage Tag

Before you set sail you will receive an email with a bunch of travel information and at the very end of the set of documents you will have a paper to print out to put on your luggage. This piece of paper will be how your luggage makes it to your room, so you want to make sure it stays on your luggage.
You can fold the piece of paper you print out how it instructs you to and staple it on your suitcase, but who travels with a stapler? You will have to find one or ask the hotel you stay at to borrow one.
Or you can take an easier route and buy yourself some luggage tags. (The ones linked are the exact ones we bought for our first cruise and are still the ones we use today.) Do not worry about the paper coming off your suitcase and just buy these luggage tags to have peace of mind.
#5 Waterproof Phone Pouch

If on your cruise you are going somewhere tropical, plan on spending time in the ocean or in a pool having this waterproof phone pouch will come in handy. This waterproof phone pouch makes it possible to have your phone with you while in the water.
I love to use it for keeping my phone on me while being away from my stuff. I know that no one is able to steal it if it is with me.
This waterproof pouch also makes it very easy to take pictures while in the water. For your phone being in a clear pouch it actually takes pretty good pictures. I was very impressed by the photos it took.
#6 Portable Charger

If you are going on an excursion while on your cruise I highly recommend bringing along with you a portable charger. Having an easy way to charge your phone after taking all your pictures will be invaluable to you if your phone starts to die before you can get back to the ship.
#7 Hand Sanitizing Wipes

Hand Sanitizing wipes. Do I need to say more?
Traveling anywhere there will be germs. While I have never felt something was dirty on a Royal Caribbean Cruise you know that for many people around you there are going to be germs everywhere. These hand-sanitizing wipes are easy to travel with and will help you have peace of mind when it comes to trying to stay healthy.
#8 Pillowcase

This a mostly a general travel essential, but bringing your own pillowcase is a must for me. If you tend to have frizzy hair like me using a satin pillow case is a game changer. My hair especially goes crazy in warmer weather, so if going somewhere tropical this satin pillow case is a cruise essential.
#9 Small Travel Containers

These Small travel containers remind me of a women’s version of a multi-tool. There are so many different uses for these little containers. Plus they are TSA-approved!
They come in a pack of 6 and each container is in a different color to help you tell the difference of what you are using each one for.
You can put face creams, different gels, hair product creams, pills, and so many other little products in them! This past trip I used them for my face routine products and they worked perfectly. No spills!
#10 Travel Pill Organizers

Another cruise essential or a general travel essential is this travel pill organizer. When you open it up there are two larger spaces on one side and six smaller spaces on the other, which helps you organize up to 8 different medications in each section.
We like to use this portable pill organizer for Tums, daily vitamins, nausea medication, and pain relief medication.
This travel pill organizer is small, compact, and very easy to travel with. It fits in my backpack with ease and makes traveling with different pills much easier.
#11 Cord Organizer Travel Case

The next cruise essential that just plainly makes your life easier is this cord organizer travel case. It is small and compact (you might see a theme of liking small and compact things) and easy to store.
There are 5 different mesh compartments, one larger pocket on the right side behind the 2 mesh compartments, and one pocket on the very front.
It holds the cords I need for charging and my portable charger. If you need room for my cords than me there is a bigger option you can choose.
I love anything that helps me stay organized and this is excellent!
#12 Packing Cubes

Packing cubes are game-changers when traveling! They help me stay organized and more importantly, they help me pack more clothes. These packing cubes are compression cubes that help smoosh your clothes and put more things in your suitcase.
I love using packing cubes when traveling anywhere, but they are helpful when cruising specifically. Cruise cabins are not the largest rooms in the world and the packing cubes can help you stay more organized in a small space. Just place one cube on each shelf in your closet or drawers. It will save you time unpacking and if you spend the time organizing each packing cube while packing it will keep you organized during your cruise as well.
#13 Toiletry Bag (TSA Friendly)

I may sound weird, but this toiletry bag is one of my favorite Christmas gifts ever.
Number one the toiletry bag is small and compact (there’s the theme again), so it fits in my suitcase or backpack very easily. But it also holds everything you might need (It reminds me of Mary Poppins bag).
Number two this toiletry bag comes with a TSA-friendly liquid bag
Number three it hangs! As mentioned before the cruise cabins are not very big, but the cruise cabin bathrooms are even smaller. The newer cruise ships do a pretty good job at adding storage to put your things, but having a hanging toiletry bag is going to come in handy. You do not have to worry about having space for your things if your bag can hang on the back of the door.
#14 Travel Size Containers for Toiletries

These are a must if you plan on packing a carry-on when traveling to your cruise by plane. Even if you are not traveling by plane the small design will come in helpful in the small cruise cabin bathroom. You will be grateful to not have your full-size products with you when there is only so much storage to be had.
#15 Travel Jewelry Organizer Case

If you are someone who likes to bring different pieces of jewelry, this travel jewelry organizer case is wonderful. I like it because it holds just enough jewelry for me and it is small and compact. Because of its flat design, it fits easily in my suitcase or in my backpack depending on where I want to pack it
Cruise Essentials
These are all the cruise essentials that my husband and I always travel with when going on a cruise. They may not seem like much, but they are truly cruise must-haves for us. Each product in its own way makes our life that much easier while being on board the ship.
Hopefully, this Amazon cruise essentials list helps you and makes your future cruise that much better!
